I recently saw this post about some one giving free ts3 and got excited and applied for it and got no reply from them. So I justed searched for other free server and I couldn't find any. So I found an other free way to get one for our clan.

Things needed:

1. A working credit card.

2. Basic computer knowledge.

Things you get after the guide:

1. One free ts3 server with 32 slots for an year(you can get 512 slots too if you willing to make it online all time)

2. Free domain name for year. Something like 'yourclanname.tk'.

Steps:

1. Head over here to https://developer.rackspace.com/signup/. Rackspace gives away 50$ credit per month for an year. Signup for the program. They will call you back and get a confirmation within a day. And you are good to go.

2. Create your own private server.

3. Server details:

   Pick something close to you.

4. Image:

   Click on servers > Create sever > Ubuntu > 14.10

5. Flavor:

   1 GB General Purpose v1 or 512MB Standard Intar -zxvfstance. I prefer 1st one.

6. Submit. note the root password given to you.

7. After the server status turns green. Take note of the IP address next to PublicNet. lets says its 1.2.3.4. now connect to the server you just created with 'ssh root@1.2.3.4' . replace 1.2.3.4 with ip you are provided. enter the root passoword you saved in previous step and you are connected :D.

8. Creating and starting your own ts3 server:

9. Download ts3 server from teamspeak.

   wget http://dl.4players.de/ts/releases/3.0.11.2/teamspeak3-server_linux-amd64-3.0.11.2.tar.gz.

   tar -zxvf teamspeak3-server_linux-amd64-3.0.11.2.tar.gz

   cd teamspeak3-server_linux-amd64/

   ./ts3server_startscript.sh start

10. Copy the token thats seen in ts3 logs.

11. Open your ts3 client and connect to the public ip address(1.2.3.4 in our example) and it will prompt for token to enter and paste the token you got from logs in previous step.

12. Booooom you have your own ts3 and you being the admin. grats.

13. Getting your free domain: Head over here http://www.dot.tk/. and register your public ip with your clan name. they provide this for 1 year for free again.

EDIT: thanks to /u/bobcrotch for pointing out security measures. for the security the below steps only allow ts3 and ssh connections to your server.

ufw default deny

ufw allow ssh

ufw allow 9987/udp

ufw enable

and make sure to restart the server by reboot command.

BIG BIG CAUTION

You can only spend 50$ per month on rackspace per month for free. If you spend more than that your credit card will get charged. If we calculate our usage for our server. It is 0.045$/Hr for 1 GB General Purpose v1 and 0.12$/GB upload. So its 32.4$ server and remaining 17.6$ you can spend on data. 17.6$ give you 142GB per month if you exceed more than that you will be CHARGED. (for a mid size clan like ours with 10-15 guys on ts3 all days a month we dont even hit 50GB)
