Install Showers In Central Oregon County

Install showers in central oregon stateCentral

I’ve got a small cabin that I am adding an outdoor shower to and having a hard time finding much info on systems and plumbing that are capable of operating through winter freezing conditions ( I live in central Oregon) . This is the only shower for the cabin so It will always need to be functional. The shower is going to be heated by an outdoor Rinnai tankless heater that is within a few feet of the shower.

I’ve heard standard shower mixing valves will freeze so I’ve been thinking about going without a mixer and just using a ball valve or gate valve on the hot and cold. I know this could cause a problem with scalding but I plan to set the Rinnai to 105 ( or so) to mitigate this. As far as water freezing in the shower head I planned on having a drain valve that would drain the pipe going to the head. All other exterior plumbing would be covered in heat cable and insulated.

How does my plan sounds? I’m am by no means a plumber and have very little experience in the field but am generally fairly capable at figuring stuff out and putting it together. So any ideas or resources would be appreciated.
